Charlie P. Cramer Scholarship

Charlie P. Cramer worked in Binghamton, NY for the Western Electric Company, but he lived in Waverly, NY. For more than ten years, he volunteered in Janet Ty's handbell program. He provided transportation to festivals and workshops throughout the United States for ringers and their equipment and also traveled abroad with them. He was known by many in southern New York and northern Pennsylvania as the Handbell Doctor. He willingly and freely offered his repair services to those within the Twin Tier Handbell Association at festivals and workshops. Mr. Cramer was a life member of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers.

Charlie Cramer died in March of 1997. Janet Ty established an Area II Festival Conference Scholarship to honor his memory and unselfish dedication to handbells.

In order to publicly recognize these chaperones and support persons, the Charlie P. Cramer Scholarship provides dedicated volunteers the opportunity to attend an Area II Festival Conference. The application form is available to download.
